IBUILDTHINGSTHATMATTER.
I'm Ssekibuule Rayan Rajab, a technology builder exploring cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI and software engineering through real-world projects and experiments.
Technology builder. Curious engineer.
I'm a Computer Science student and technology builder. I work across cloud computing, cybersecurity and networking deeply and collaborate in software/web development and AI, not because they're on a curriculum, but because they're the tools that let you build things that actually matter.
I've built systems from scratch, experimented with infrastructure, explored how AI agents can reason through problems, and helped organise technology communities where students learn by building.
The common thread: understanding technology, then turning that knowledge into practical solutions to problems that matter.

Active contributor to the local AWS student builder ecosystem.
Technology is a team sport.
Events, workshops, student activities and community initiatives — where ideas move from individual to collective.
Learning. Building. Leading.
Not a linear path. A series of intentional decisions to go deeper, build more and operate in communities where the work is real.
Learning the foundations.
It started with curiosity about how things work — how software runs, how networks carry data, how systems talk to each other. Computer Science gave me the vocabulary. The real learning started when I began applying it.
From learning technology to building with it.
There is a gap between understanding a concept and using it to solve a real problem. Crossing that gap changes how you think. I stopped asking 'what is this' and started asking 'what can I build with this'. The projects followed.
Building, experimenting, connecting.
Building projects across cloud, security, AI and software. Experimenting with ideas in The Lab. Contributing to technology communities where students build together. Every week something new gets tested.
Deeper. More deliberate.
The direction is clear: cloud engineering, cybersecurity, AI systems and the infrastructure that makes distributed systems work at scale. Getting there through building, not waiting.
Active areas of focus.
These bars represent where attention is currently invested — not a percentage of mastery, but a signal of active exploration.
NOTE
Emphasis reflects current investment, not relative skill level. All domains are studied seriously.
Where ideas live before they ship.
Unfinished experiments, concepts in progress and ideas worth testing. This is where curiosity runs ahead of certainty.
Self-Prompting AI System
An AI system that generates its own follow-up prompts based on intermediate outputs, progressively refining its understanding of a problem without human intervention at each step.
Exploring prompt chaining architectures and self-evaluation loops.
Autonomous Cybersecurity Investigator
AI agent that receives a security alert, decomposes it into investigative sub-questions, gathers evidence and produces a structured incident finding. Extended from the project concept.
AI Public Information Assistant
A conversational AI assistant for surfacing public information, government services, local regulations, civic data, trained to be accurate and citation-aware.
Cloud Homelab Architecture
Experimenting with self-hosted cloud-adjacent infrastructure, running services, exploring networking configurations and learning infrastructure-as-code through practice.
Lightweight Security Scanner
A simple tool for scanning local network configurations and surfaces common misconfigurations, primarily for learning and defensive security exploration.
Personal Automation Workflows
A collection of automation scripts and small tools that eliminate repetitive tasks in development workflows, file processing, report generation, deployment helpers.
Ideas worth writing down.

What I'm Actually Learning About Cloud
Beyond certifications and tutorials, what it actually means to understand cloud architecture by building things and breaking them.
Cybersecurity Is Not a Feature
Lessons from exploring security concepts: why security cannot be bolted on after the fact, and what that means for builders.
Building With AI vs. Using AI
There is a meaningful difference between prompting an AI tool and building systems that use AI as a component. Why that distinction matters.
Lessons from Things That Didn't Work
The projects that failed, the assumptions that were wrong and what each one taught me about building software in the real world.
Building Technology in Uganda
What it means to build technology in a context where infrastructure constraints, connectivity realities and local problems shape every design decision.
On Being a Student Who Builds
The gap between what universities teach and what building real systems requires, and how to close it while still in school.
Writing starts when the ideas have had enough time to develop. These topics are queued, published as thinking becomes clear enough to be worth sharing.
Have an idea worth exploring?
Whether it's a project, opportunity, collaboration or just a problem worth thinking through — reach out. The best things start with a conversation.
